In December 2021, the district of Uelzen received approval for the three-year implementation funding with a funding amount of approx. 2 million euros as part of the 5G innovation program of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital (BMDV).

The innovation program enables the testing of 5G applications under real conditions. In this way, potential consumers and providers of innovative 5G mobile communications solutions are to be brought together and the potential of 5G mobile communications made visible on the ground. The German Bundestag is providing a total of around 66 million euros to support the introduction of 5G. The initiative is intended to help develop Germany into the lead market for 5G.
